About Main St Smog Star Station

Our Story & High Desert Heritage

Established to serve vehicle owners across Hesperia, Victorville, Apple Valley, and surrounding High Desert communities, Main St Smog Star Station was founded on a simple, enduring principle: complete transparency in automotive emissions testing.

Originally operating on Main Street and now centrally situated in our specialized inspection facility at 9345 Jellico Ave Unit B, our shop has tested tens of thousands of California cars, diesel pickups, work vans, and family SUVs. Our trademark reputation is the direct result of personalized attention, punctuality, and unwavering integrity.

Unlike conventional general repair garages where smog checks are just an afterthought or a lead generator to sell costly mechanical work, our entire operation is fine-tuned for one singular objective: providing an accurate, expedited, and strictly objective California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) inspection.

State of California STAR Certification

Main St Smog Star Station is an officially designated STAR Test-Only Center. To achieve and maintain STAR certification, our facility undergoes continuous monitoring by the California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) and BAR. We meet stringent standards regarding test accuracy, equipment calibration, technician credentials, and overall inspection quality.

Why the "Test-Only" Standard Matters to You

When vehicle owners ask us what sets a STAR Test-Only station apart, we emphasize the complete elimination of conflicting interests:

• No Repair Conflict: Under California state statute, Test-Only stations are prohibited from repairing vehicles or selling auto parts. We have zero motivation to find false defects or fail your vehicle.
• Unmatched Speed: Because our bays are not occupied by major engine overhauls, brake jobs, or transmission replacements, you drive directly in and are back on the road in approximately 15 minutes.
• DMV STAR Directed Acceptance: If your DMV registration renewal document mandates a STAR station, test-and-repair shops cannot test your vehicle unless they hold STAR credentials, and standard shops cannot test you at all. We are authorized to test every vehicle category.
• Instant Electronic Reporting: As soon as your inspection concludes with a pass, our computerized BAR-OIS equipment transmits the electronic certificate straight to the Sacramento DMV headquarters and AAA branches.
